When to go

Spring
The best time to look for the Middle Spotted Woodpecker is at the beginning of spring, when this bird is most active and there are still no leaves on the trees.
Summer
The period of reproduction of the Honey Buzzard finishes in midsummer and so this is the best time to see it in Izki Natural Park.
Likewise, although they do not breed in Izki, Bee-eaters are easy to see at this time of the year in the fields around the park.
Autumn
This is a good time to look for migrating species in the lakes of the southern part of Izki Natural Park.
Winter
On the leafless branches of the oaks in Izki Natural Park, numerous species of small forest-dwelling birds can be seen, including the Middle Spotted Woodpecker.
