Cape Matxitxako

To the west of the Mundaka river estuary, and very close to the spectacular landscape of Gaztelugatxe, Cape Matxitxako is the best observation point for migrating seabirds along the Basque coast. Large number of species can be observed from this location, the most abundant of which are the Atlantic Gannet and the Balearic Shearwater.
How to get there
On the road that goes from Bermeo to Bakio, once you have passed the Altamira-Gibale quarter of Bermeo, take the first turnoff to the right toward the beach called Arribolas. Just 1.8 km from the crossroads, you will find the Matxitxako Lighthouse parking area, on the Cape itself.
